MUMBAI:
The DLF Indian Premier League has completed its second stage
of the player auction. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries,
which owns the Mumbai franchise, bagged two important players
- Sri Lankan master blaster Sanath Jayasuria for $ 975,000
and Harbhajan Singh for $ 850,000.
The
price paid for Harbhajan was more than thrice the reserve
price of 250,000 dollars.
As
for the other names announced, Anil Kumble (who is not in
either the T20 or ODI teams) will be playing for his home
team of Bangalore. The UB Group coughed up half a million
dollars for the Indian test captain's services.
Sri
Lankan wicketkeeper Kumara Sangakarra will be behind the wicket
for Mohali at a price of $ 700,000. Glenn Mcgrath and Mohammed
Yousuf have gone into the reserve pool. The latter has controversy
over him. He had backed off from his contract with Zee's ICL.
More
updates will follow so stay tuned.
