MUMBAI:
Tarun Rai has been appointed as CEO of Worldwide Media Pvt
Ltd (WWM), a joint venture between BBC and the Times of India
Group for a host of magazines. He comes in from JWT, where
he was the managing partner.
Rai's
appointment follows WWM CEO Devasish Sarkar's exit in January.
Rai
has over 18 years of experience in the advertising business.
His clients at JWT included Unilever, Diageo, GlaxoSmithkline,
Pizza Hut, Reebok, DeBeers, Nestle, Kellogg and Merill Lynch.
BBC
Magazines MD and WWM chairman Peter Phippen said, "Worldwide
Media is the magazine gateway to India. This meant we were
looking for an outstanding leader for the CEO post. Tarun
has a great combination of commercial and creative expertise
that will grow the company's position as one of India's largest
magazine publishers in a rapidly expanding marketplace."
