MUMBAI:
Rajeev Chandrasekhar has taken over as the new president of
the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FICCI) at the conclusion of its 80th Annual General Meeting
held in New Delhi.
Along
with Chandrasekhar, JK Paper Ltd MD Harsh Pati Singhania has
been elected as the federation's SVP. Singhania is a senior
committee member and heads the manufacturing committee of
FICCI.
Bharti
Enterprises MD and FICCI retail committee chairman Rajan Bharti
Mittal has been elected as the VP of FICCI.
A
Rajya Sabha MP from Bangalore, Chandrasekhar is also the chairman
and CEO of Jupiter Capital, a venture development, management
and investment company, focusing on infrastructure, media
and technology ventures of the future. He founded BPL Mobile
in 1994 and was one of the earliest investors to spot the
Indian telecom opportunity.
Singhania
is a fourth-generation industrialist belonging to the JK Group,
whose activities include manufacture of paper and boards,
cement, tyres and tubes, V-belts, oil seals, hybrid seeds,
sugar, dairy products, hospitals, clinical research, etc.
The group's sales turnover is above $2.2 billion and assets
over $2 billion.
