MUMBAI:
National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has commissioned
Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) to produce a six-part series
Perfect Weapon.
Distributed
by Southern Star International, the series will examine the
science, technology and history of an array of weapons.
Each
one-hour episode of Perfect Weapon features a different
category of weapon, but the aim is the same: to find the weapon
whose design, manufacture and usability made it so effective
that it changed the world forever.
The
series is presented by two experts, ex-Marine Monty Halls
and Bristol University academic and weapons expert Stuart
Prior. Each episode sees the duo select a different battlefield
weapon to trial, study its origins and examine its evolution
- from the raw brutality of hammers and flails, the surgical
precision of swords and axes, to the destructive power of
siege engines and the force of gunpowder
Southern
Star Entertainment UK CEO Clare Birks said, We are really
delighted to be working again with National Geographic Channel
on this exciting new series. The format is very innovative
and combines a hands-on practical approach with
fascinating stories from history.
NGCI
EVP Sydney Suissa says, Perfect Weapon engages
viewers with its dynamic combination of demonstration, military
history, and strategic analysis. It's a very innovative and
contemporary way to understand how human ingenuity decided
these epic battles.
OSF
executive producer Paul Sen said, We will find out how
the Perfect Weapon is made, how it works and how it forged
human history.
Perfect
Weapon will premiere on National Geographic Channel in
the UK from 4 March, and will be shown globally on National
Geographic Channel later in the year.
