MUMBAI:
Media conglomerate News Corp. has announced that Hewlett-Packard
chairman and CEO Mark Hurd has been appointed to the companys
board of directors.
Hurd will serve on the Nominating and Corporate Governance
Committee.
The
company also announced that former US secretary of education
Dr Rod Paige has resigned from its board of directors. He
has served on the board since 2006 and will remain with News
Corp as a consultant on educational matters.

Corp chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch said, Mark has
had great success in sharpening HPs strategic focus
resulting in increased growth and profitability for what is
one of the worlds leading technology companies. As we
continue to position our company for the digital age, Marks
vast operational experience in the technology sector will
be a valuable asset to the News Corp Board, and we welcome
him to our ranks.
