Airtel, RIM launch new BlackBerry Pearl smartphone in India

MUMBAI: Telecom company Bharti Airtel and Research in Motion (RIM) have launched the new BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone with built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) in India. The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 will be available from Airtel for Rs 24,990.

 

The smartphone includes rich multimedia features together with communications capabilities. Airtel says that this is one of the smallest and lightest smartphones in the market, and is designed for people who want to make the most of their work and personal lives.

Airtel CMO mobile services Sanjay Gupta says, "The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 is loaded with unrivalled data and GPS capabilities that will enable Airtel users to benefit from enhanced connectivity in their daily life. This exceptional smartphone underlines our commitment to innovation and delivers a best in class communication experience to Airtel's business and consumer customers."

 
The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone also allows access to email, phone, organiser, browser and other mobile applications. It also has a 2 mega-pixel camera with flash and 5x zoom. It can take pictures that can be shared via email, MMS and instant messenger applications. The camera also supports video recording.

There is also advanced media player and enhanced desktop media manager software that allows customers to manage music, pictures and video between their PC and the BlackBerry Pearl 8110.
