MUMBAI:
Star
Gold will roll out a festival of blockbuster movies and events
on weekdays under an initiative called "Vodafone Twenty
20."
The
festival kicks off on 18 February and will continue for 20
days.
The
lineup of blockbuster movies and events on Star Gold includes
Bhaagam Bhaag, Guru, Chup Chup Ke,
Babul, Main Hoona Na, Taxi No 9211, Don,
My Friend Ganesha, Hero No 1, Krrish,
Hulchul, Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya, along with the
best of the Bollywood events such as Sabsey Favourite Kaun
2008, Comedy Honors 2007, Jalwa 2007 and
IIFA Yorkshire 2007.
Commenting
on this initiative, Star India VP of marketing and communication
Prem Kamath said, "Twenty 20 is a first-of-its-kind initiative
ever taken by a movie channel wherein we will present to our
viewers with the Bollywood way of earning money and also offer
an entire gamut of interesting movies across genres, thus
creating an exciting weeknight treat."
Interestingly, the movies are scheduled for a prime-time 8:30
pm slot. This is very unusual for a movie channel which normally
banks on weekends.
Kamath
said, "As long as the product is strong, a good viewership
is guaranteed. The movies which we are showing are all popular
titles."
To
back it up further, the channel has also lined up daily contests.
Viewers can participate in the movie during the movie breaks
by sending SMSes. Viewers will get a chance to win a daily
cash prize of Rs 100000 for the maximum correct answers.
Adding
to this treat is a car which will be won by the maximum correct
answers during the entire festival.
"We
are hoping that this initiative will help us break through
the clutter and continue to build a stronger connect with
our viewers," added Kamath.
