DELHI: Rajesh Kaul, presently vice president, affiliate sales
at ESPN Star Sports, has put in his papers and is set to join
Set Discovery as head, South Asia, soon.
The
exact designation is not known, but it would be either President
or CEO, sources close to the developments said. Kaul did not
respond to calls and an ESS spokesperson said he had no comments
to offer.
Kaul
has been working with ESS for the past decade. He has been
credited with having a big part to play in the successful
launch of the sportscaster's latest channel - Star Cricket.
Kaul
will be now operating out of Mumbai, and will be joining at
a huge, but undisclosed salary.
Aside
from the obvious attraction of a salary hike, what the Set
Discovery assignment offers him is a much larger profile.
Set
Discovery wants Kaul to join immediately, but sources were
not clear when he would be actually joining, with relieving
issues with ESS remaining to be worked out.
