MUMBAI:
B.A.G Films and Media executive director Pratik Basu has resigned
from the company, citing as his reason irreconcilable differences
with the promoters in the way that the channels under his
stewardship were to be programmed, positioned and promoted.
A 30-year veteran in marketing and media, Basu earlier had
a 10-year stint as CEO of Buena Vista Television India, the
Walt Disney's joint venture, where he worked with international
brands such as ESPN, Hallmark and Disney.
Basu
had joined B.A.G. Films five months ago to orchestrate the
launch of its proposed slew of channels.
As
per the sources, he was assured a free hand to build a team
of his choice and introduce professional standards.
However, within days of the launch of News24, the first channel
from the B.A.G stable, speculation was rife about the growing
discontent between Basu and the promoters because of their
widely differing management styles.
Rather
than aggravate the situation on the eve of the launch of B.A.G's
second channel E24, Basu has decided to put in his papers.
However,
when contacted, B.A.G. Films MD Anurradha Prasad said she
was surprised that such a thing had been said and refused
to comment on this.
