MUMBAI: Corners (http://www.corners.in), a new content-based social networking site, has launched.

A brainchild of Melamesa Internet Services, Corners is a content-based social community, focusing on “content” and not just user profiles, unlike many other social sites, says the company.

Corners brings fans and their interests together to connect, share and entertain with others on any topic – movies (eg Jodha Akbar), sports (eg Ishant Sharma), celebrities (eg Deepika Padukone), places (eg India), products (eg iPhone) and more with unmatched user experience.

Melamesa Internet Services company looks to provide experiences based on Web 2.0 and open source technologies.

Corners is targeting the young Indian community worldwide and anyone who is interested in Indian topics. Positioning itself as a next-generation social networking site, it is gaining momentum quickly among these demographics.

Corners will have photos, videos, blogs, talktivities, news, events, chirps and more.

- Fans can explore multiple interests in one place – eg a user might like Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Hyderabad, iPod etc; he or she can experience all of these in one place.

- Fans can connect with other like-minded fans worldwide in a community setting. They can express themselves in several ways with the content they care about and use the personal profiles to showcase their personality. Fans are defined by their activity on the site and their profile is updated automatically based on their activities.

- Content is updated by a combination of Corners technology and the community of fans themselves.

The site is already Open Social-compliant which is the social application platform that Google launched recently. Moreover, Corners has launched an application for the Orkut sandbox. It will be announcing more on Open Social soon.
