MUMBAI:
The decision on the fate of the inaugural Champions T20 League
will now be taken on 12 December.
Earlier,
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to
hold a meeting with the board members of Cricket Australia
(CA) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) on 7 December for fixing
up a possible date for the Champions League Twenty20. The
meeting, however, could not be held.
The
inaugural edition of Champions League Twenty20, which was
scheduled to be played in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai from
3 to 10 December, was put under suspension last week due to
the terror attacks in Mumbai.
Said
Emerging Media CMO Raghu Iyer, "There is a window open
in January. After that, it will be difficult to slot the event."
Emerging
Media owns the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals which won the
first IPL edition, and is one of the eight teams to contest
the Champions T20 League.
The
new schedule has to be in sync with Future Tour Programmes
(FTP) which is drafted with the approval of the International
Cricket Council (ICC).
According
to the present FTP, India was supposed to play against Pakistan
in January. However looking at the prevailing conditions related
to the Mumbai terror attack, India's tour of Pakistan might
not turn into a reality.
