MUMBAI: Zee 24 Taas, the Marathi 24-hour news channel, is organising a special event - Maharashtrachi Shaan (Pride of Maharashtra) - to honor the state’s best historical place. The event will be held on 27 December, at Vile Parle (West) in Mumbai from 7 pm onwards.

Maharashtra boasts of several historical structures ranging from Gateway of India, Ajanta Caves, Shaniwarwada, Pratapgad Fort and Ramtek Temple to Murund Janjira, Sindhudurga Fort, Elephanta Caves, Mahalaxmi Temple, Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Raigad Fort and Bibi Ka Maqbara.

For Maharashtrachi Shaan, people will vote through SMS and the award will be given to the winning historical marvel. The event will also see a special light and sound show.

The channel said in a release that a special tribute and a momento trophy will be given to Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which is considered to be one of the finest work of architecture and itself is a 100-year-old structure.

The event is sponsored by Rin in association with Bank of India, Swarg Jewellers and Lux. Big FM is the radio partner for the event. The channel will air the show on 3 January.
