Zee Kannada's 'Gunaganna 2' to start airing from August 4

BANGALORE: Zee Kannada announced that the second series of Gunaganna will start airing from August 4. The eight-week, 40-episode series will be beamed Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

 
  

The previous edition of Gunaganna paid tribute to songs of eight musical legends or 'Gandharva Taareyaru' of the Kannada film industry. In the second edition, Zee Kannada plans to run through 40 years of Kannada films music. Gunaganna 2 will now have professional singers like Rajesh Krishnan, Manjula Gururaj, B R Chaya, Gurukiran, Hemanth, L N Shastry, Ramesh Chandra, Archana Udupa, M D Pallavi, Nanditha, Sangeetha Katti, Chaitra, Gangotri Rangaswamy and many others who will recreate and relive the songs of hit movies like Kasturi Nivasa, Nagara Haavu, Edakalu Guddada Mele, Shubhamangala, Geeta, Malaya Maaruta, Ranganayaki, Pallavi Anupallavi, Bandhana, Premaloka, Nanjundi Kalyani, Mysooru Mallige, Janumada Jodi, Appu, Excuse Me, Aptamitra, Nenapirali, Jogi, Amritadhare to Mungaaru Male and Gaalipata amongst others. There will also be dance performers to spice up the show and recreate the aura and ambience of the movie.

 
  
Each day will be dedicated to songs of an all-time hit movie. Forty such movies will be featured over a period of eight weeks. Beside hit songs, the show will also have the some of the actual crew of the movie to share their fond memories, experiences and provide interesting tidbits and insights about the lyrics, composition, choreography and music direction.

"People remember these golden movies for their music, long after their run… and what better way to recreate the magic, than bring together the crew of the movie and relive those special moments. Gunaganna is Zee Kannada's way of paying tribute to this rich musical history of Karnataka," said Anup Chandrasekharan, the channel's business head.
