DELHI: In an effort to catch new audiences, Pragya TV has
made some time band adjustments and decided to launch two
new programmes.
While
Love You Zindagi is based on real-life experiences
of reformed drug addicts, Back to Nature spreads the
word of environmental awareness and how people, in their own
little ways, can make a huge difference to saving our planet.
In
Love You Zindagi, each recreated story has snippets
from the protagonist as well as members of his family and
the people who have known him over the years.
"The
pilot run is ready and the first transmission is two weeks
away," channel programming head Pragyan Bhattacharya
told indiantelevision.com.
Pragya TV has also re-scheduled the time band of some shows.
"We
listened to the request of our audience and shifted the time
band to 11 am till 12 noon," said Bhattacharya.
The
two women's programmes that have been shifted to the new time
band are Just 4 Women and Saundarya.
Bhattacharya
added that 11 am is just about the time that women get some
relief from home chores, as kids are in school and the male
members have left for office.
"There
is one approach of taking other channels head on and poaching
into their audience. But we decided to create our own audience,
and we have got a good respone," he added.
Along
with these changes, the channel also has "weekend marathon
runs," where two of their soaps - Saanjh and Zindagi
Ke Rang - are shown back-to-back over two and a half hours.
The
marathons would show a total of five episodes of each of the
two serials that had been shown on weekdays, a kind of repeat
telecast that would bring the episodes to the people who might
have missed them during the week.
"We
are also very keen on promoting interactivity with our audience,"
Bhattacharya said, and added that they have found a unique
way of getting the audience to participate in the channel.
"We
have frequent callers who want to give their views on the
'Topic of the Day.' Two such callers are OP Uppal from Dehradun
and Bhagwan Das Pehelwani from Indore who have participated
in Khari Baat, a men's programming. They have been
called to the studio and have gone on air live in the programme
as guests," Bhattacharya said.
