NEW DELHI: TV content producer Miditech is foraying into films. The company will be involved in a project which is being produced by UTV Spotboy.

Amir, a thriller which talks about terrorism, is written and directed by Rajkumar Gupta. Anurag Kashyap is the creative producer of the film.

Miditech has also lined up a bagful of shows over the next three months. "We are doing four shows in three months," says Miditech founder-chief creative officer Niret Alva.

The four shows include a big ticket reality series Extreme Makeover, Varanasi: The Burning Shores, Hotel By The Bay and Kyunki… Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.

Says Alva, “We expect the shows to go on air within the next three months. Along with these we are also doing Indian Idol 3 on Sony Entertainment Televison (SET) and Music Art Dance (M.A.D) season 5 on Pogo.”

Long in production has been Extreme Makeover– a reality series for SET that was expected to air sometime last year.

“We’re glad to announce that the production is over and ready to go on air. It was a challenging task in creating such a series and it took time,” says Alva.

Extreme Makeover India is a reality series, which intends to resurrect the lives of distraught individuals due to some physical deformations. The participants were taken out of their environment and were made to undergo various treatments including facial correction surgeries - both reconstructive and cosmetic, dental and eye surgeries combined with fitness, diet and styling.

Varanasi: The Burning Shores, is a one-hour documentary film that talks about death and the businesses that thrive on death rituals,. It is scheduled to be aired on Discovery.

“Hindus believe that by dying in Varanasi, you can attain Mukti. In this documentary, we look at the community of Doms and their King that control every activity on the ghats and the package of service they provide,” said Alva.

Hotel By The Bay looks at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in Mumbai and the 1700 people team that runs it. To be aired on Discovery Travel and Living, this is a 13-part reality series that tells the stories of a set of people who represent different levels in the well-defined hierarchy, from the executive chef to a front office manager and a new recruit in the laundry. Their stories are expected to reveal the human side to the grandiose and regal hotel.

Meditech is producing Kyunki… Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, a initiative by Unicef to promote its 'Facts for Life' programme. Launched on DD National, the daily soap is set in a rural ambience, which follows the lives of major characters through riveting stories.

Recently, Turner International has entered into an equal joint venture with Miditech promoters to roll out entertainment channels in Hindi and other Indian languages.

The media conglomerate has also picked up close to 30 per cent stake in Miditech, a production house run by the Alva Brothers, for an undisclosed amount.

Turner's stake in Miditech includes all shares previously held by ICICI Ventures. ICICI Ventures held 25 per cent equity in Miditech.
