DELHI: TV content producer Miditech is foraying into films.
The company will be involved in a project which is being produced
by UTV Spotboy.
Amir,
a thriller which talks about terrorism, is written and directed
by Rajkumar Gupta. Anurag Kashyap is the creative producer
of the film.
Miditech
has also lined up a bagful of shows over the next three months.
"We are doing four shows in three months," says
Miditech founder-chief creative officer Niret Alva.
The
four shows include a big ticket reality series Extreme
Makeover, Varanasi: The Burning Shores, Hotel By The
Bay and Kyunki
Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.
Says
Alva, We expect the shows to go on air within the next
three months. Along with these we are also doing Indian
Idol 3 on Sony Entertainment Televison (SET) and Music
Art Dance (M.A.D) season 5 on Pogo.
Long
in production has been Extreme Makeover a reality
series for SET that was expected to air sometime last year.
Were
glad to announce that the production is over and ready to
go on air. It was a challenging task in creating such a series
and it took time, says Alva.
Extreme
Makeover India is a reality series, which intends to resurrect
the lives of distraught individuals due to some physical deformations.
The participants were taken out of their environment and were
made to undergo various treatments including facial correction
surgeries - both reconstructive and cosmetic, dental and eye
surgeries combined with fitness, diet and styling.
Varanasi:
The Burning Shores, is a one-hour documentary film that
talks about death and the businesses that thrive on death
rituals,. It is scheduled to be aired on Discovery.
Hindus
believe that by dying in Varanasi, you can attain Mukti. In
this documentary, we look at the community of Doms and their
King that control every activity on the ghats and the package
of service they provide, said Alva.
Hotel
By The Bay looks at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in
Mumbai and the 1700 people team that runs it. To be aired
on Discovery Travel and Living, this is a 13-part reality
series that tells the stories of a set of people who represent
different levels in the well-defined hierarchy, from the executive
chef to a front office manager and a new recruit in the laundry.
Their stories are expected to reveal the human side to the
grandiose and regal hotel.
Meditech
is producing Kyunki
Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, a
initiative by Unicef to promote its 'Facts for Life'
programme. Launched on DD National, the daily soap is set
in a rural ambience, which follows the lives of major characters
through riveting stories.
Recently,
Turner International has entered into an equal joint venture
with Miditech promoters to roll out entertainment channels
in Hindi and other Indian languages.
The
media conglomerate has also picked up close to 30 per cent
stake in Miditech, a production house run by the Alva Brothers,
for an undisclosed amount.
Turner's
stake in Miditech includes all shares previously held by ICICI
Ventures. ICICI Ventures held 25 per cent equity in Miditech.
