MUMBAI:
The One Alliance distribution bouquet, a joint venture between
Sony and Discovery, has elevated Amit Arora to the position
of senior vice-president looking after sales, marketing, HR
and affiliate relations.
Arora
will be assisted by two other VPs - RVL Narasimhan and Rajib
Mukherji. Himanshu Dhoreliya is VP business development and
DTH business while Rajiv Bhargava is VP finance, legal and
operations.
The
rejig follows the exit of One Alliance head Gurjeev Singh
Kapoor who quit to join Star Den as its chief executive officer.
Talking
about the future of the company Sony CEO Kunal Dasgupta says,
"2008 promises to be a great year for TheOneAlliance
- with the spotlight on the Big IPL, the coveted acquisition
of the New Zealand Board and enhanced programming content
on the channels in the bouquet. TheOneAlliance promises an
exciting, 'whole' experience for the consumers in keeping
with its 'Best of Brands' philosophy.
Dasgupta
notes that the company recently concluded a successful three-year
innings with Ten Sports on 31 March, 2008. "We are keen
to invest huge money to introduce more sports acquisitions
in our bouquet and thus it was imperative to part ways and
move on to greater challenges and scale new heights."

Discovery (earlier Set Discovery) director Deepak Shourie
says, "It fills me with pride to be part of this superb
team, a handshake that has resulted in a long and successful
partnership of over five years and which is now poised to
take a great leap forward. We are elated to announce a further
extension of our agreement for another five years."
