| MUMBAI:
In the pursuit to hike up its TRPs (television ratings points), Star Plus is leaving
no stone unturned to put its foot firm on the Hindi general entertainment channel
(GEC) space. Continuing
with its series of fresh shows, Star Plus has roped in all the winners and runners-up
of some of the music talent hunt shows (Indian Idol, Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Star
Voice of India and Fame Gururkul) in other channels to launch another reality
show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. It replaces Chhote Ustaad on weekends
at 10 pm. Hosted
by Mandira Bedi, the show is judged by Farah Khan, Vishal and Shekhar. Jo Jeeta
Wohi Superstar is produced by Endemol India. Star
India GM and EVP Keertan Adyanthaya said, This is akin to the World Cup
or the Olympics. Winners of talent shows and the most promising talent across
channels coming together to give the audience a chance to judge whos the
best."
To
remain consolidated in its position, Star Plus has announced
a slate of shows including two big ticket ones - Kya Aap
Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and
Mahabharat directed by Bobby Bedi. Kya Aap Paanchvi
Pass Se Tez Hain? is a quiz based show where Star Plus
is giving away Rs 50 million as prize money.
Star
Plus is also extending into a new genre with the upcoming
reality show Aap Ki Kachehri. Kiran Bedi as mediator
will settle disputes for an out of court settlement.
On
top of it, the channel has recently recalled Smriti Irani
(Tulsi) as a TRP garnering exercise for its flagship show
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which was seen sinking
down in the score card for the last two months.
To
consolidate its programming, Star Plus has also extended its
afternoon band to 2:30 pm with the launch of Grihasti
in February.
