BBC inks distribution deal with Hathway Cable and Datacom

MUMBAI: BBC has inked a distribution deal with multi-system operator Hathway Cable and Datacom.

As per the deal, BBC World News and BBC Worldwide’s Global Channels BBC Entertainment and CBeebies will be available across 28 cities in India through the Hathway distribution network.

BBC Entertainment and CBeebies will also be available on Hathway Digital. Some of the cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Nashik, Mysore, Chandigarh, Aurangabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Baroda.

 

BBC Entertainment is a general entertainment channel which presents British comedy and drama. Available both in English and Hindi, CBeebies is a pre-school channel for children aged six years and under with a programme schedule that has an emphasis on educational entertainment.

BBC Worldwide South Asia Global Channels’ general manager Nachiket Pantvaidya says “Our association with Hathway Cable will ensure that a large base of viewers in India will now be able to see the first pre-school channel in India with CBeebies, and also the only channel that carries quality British shows, BBC Entertainment. It marks the next step in BBC Worldwide’s channels strategy, to ensure that quality television from the BBC stable is available to audiences in India.”
