NDTV Q4 net loss at Rs 1.17 billion

MUMBAI: NDTV Ltd. has posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 1.17 billion for the fourth quarter of the fiscal ended 31 March 2008, as it incurred expenses for the launch of new channels including Hindi general entertainment channel NDTV Imagine. For the year-ago period, the net loss stood at Rs 74 million.

Net sales, however, rose over 50 per cent to Rs 1.22 billion in the fourth quarter of FY'08 as against Rs 814.5 million in the previous year.

For the full fiscal, NDTV reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1.86 billion. The net loss for FY'07 stood at Rs 144.5 million. Revenues for the year grew to more than 31 per cent to Rs 3.66 billion as against Rs 2.78 billion the previous year.

On a standalone basis, NDTV reported a net profit of Rs 42 million for FY'08, as against net losses of Rs 68 million during the previous fiscal. Net sales was up almost 30 per cent at Rs 3.06 billion as against Rs 2.35 billion reported the previous year.
