DELHI: NDTV Imagine has unveiled its upcoming show Junoon
Kuchh kar dikhane ka. The launch date for the bi-weekly
show has not been finalised yet, but it will hit the TV screens
sometime in June.
Gajendrra
Siingh's Saibaba Telefilms will produce the show for NDTV
Imagine.
The format of Junoon has a battle among three genres of Indian
music - Sufi, Folk and Filmy. Each genre has a mentor and
six participants, making a total of 18 for the three genres
mentioned. The mentors are Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for
Sufi Ke Sultan, Ila Arun for Maati Ke Lal and
Anand Raj Anand for Bollywood Ke Baadshah.
Each
week the audience will vote for their favourite genre (and
not contestants) and the mentor of the group receiving the
least number of votes will have to make the decision to eliminate
one of the members of his/her team.
"The
main idea behind this project is to find out which of the
three genres people like the most. Although Bollywood music
is immensely popular, there are still many people who prefer
Folk music as well as Sufi. I am very excited about this show
and its concept," said producer Gajendrra Siingh.
NDTV
Imagine EVP (marketing and communications) Manoj Vidwans said,
"With the type of content we have come up since our inception,
we have been able to capture the imagination of people in
the short span of time we've been around."
