MUMBAI: SPE Networks - Asia, and Hong's IPTV service now TV have announced the launch of AXN Beyond.

This is a spin-off from AXN. AXN Beyond is being positioned as the destination channel for "out-of-the-ordinary" entertainment, offering some of the best and top-rated shows from the US across popular genres such as sci-fi, suspense, horror, mystery/fantasy, the paranormal and supernatural.

From the unbelievable to the unexplainable, AXN Beyond has what it calls 'out of the ordinary' content that will capture the imagination of a growing group of viewers with the insatiable appetite for spooks and chills. Following the successful debut of the channel in the Philippines in January 2008, Hong Kong is the second market for AXN Beyond's expansion in Asia.

The first shows to 'migrate' from AXN, are the latest season of Lost as well as Emmy-nominated Supernatural.

SPE Networks - Asia GM Ricky Ow says, "Shows like Lost and Supernatural have proven to rate well on AXN, giving us the confidence to launch a brand new channel dedicated to providing such programming that has mass appeal, yet with a niche of its own."

Viewers can also expect some light-hearted fare like fantasy/romance TV series Pushing Daisies. Ow add, "AXN has been very successful and has become one of the most popular entertainment destinations for Asian viewers in the last decade. It is a brand that viewers have come to trust to deliver top-quality programmes that never fail to thrill and excite, and they can expect the same top-notch shows from AXN Beyond that will take viewers to a whole new level of excitement.

"With our great partnership with now TV, I am sure our strong connection with the viewers will continue to grow, as we are committed to enhance their entertainment experience with us, be it with AXN or AXN Beyond".

PCCW MD television and content Dominic Leung said, "This new partnership takes now TV's relationship with AXN to new heights and strengthens a collaboration that began in 2004 with launch of AXN channel in Hong Kong on our IPTV platform. I am confident that AXN Beyond will astonish and entertain now TV viewers.

"AXN Beyond's debut on now TV, together with five other newly-launched channels, will provide even more sparkle for now TV's international lineup."
