MUMBAI:
Google Inc CEO Eric Schmidt has hired Frank Quattrone's Qatalyst
Group as advisor.
Qatalyst
will advise and help Google in the Microsoft-Yahoo! amalgamation
talks. Recently, Google and Yahoo! had joined hands to serve
ads on Yahoo!'s search results.
Founded
by Silicon Valley dotcom investment banker Quattrone, Qatalyst
is a new investment group.
It
seems that Google is weighing its options after news spread
about Microsoft's talks with News Corp for taking over Yahoo!.
Schmidt
and Quattrone have worked together for years in the past.
As reported by the New York Times, Schmidt was even quoted
in the press release announcing the creation of Qatalyst.
"I look forward to working with him again and am very
enthusiastic about Qatalyst's prospects for success,"
Schmidt said at the time.
Quattrone
was also one of the first investment bankers ever to meet
with Google when the company was still in its infancy in the
late 1990s.
