MUMBAI:
Zee Studio has launched Sultans of Cinema, a world
cinema festival that showcases 26 films of international acclaim.
The
festival will screen films made by directors like Ingmar Bergman,
Akira Kurosawa, Wong Kar-Wai, François Truffaut, Inagaki,
Kieslowski and Jim Jarmusch every Sunday at 3 pm.
Zee
Studio business head Neil Chakravarti said, We strongly
believe that we cater to the tastes of a discerning film audience
and to that end, our viewers can rest assured that each film
showcased as part of Sultans of Cinema will be a masterpiece
in itself - an education in film-making, with its original
thought and superior technique. The festival is an ode to
the finest international film makers who thought ahead of
their times and produced works of cinematic brilliance.
The
festival will present films like Kurosawas Seven
Samurai and Throne of Blood, Ingmer Bergman's Wild
Strawberries, François Truffaut's Soft Skin
and Bed and Board, and Through the Glass Darkly
that follows the lives of a familys disillusionment
with their father.
Aditionally,
films like Kieslowskis Camera Buff, and Wong
Kar-Wais Chungking Express and In the mood
for Love,will also be showcased during the festival.
Sultans
of Cinema is an ensemble of path-breaking, epochal international
films since the chosen films made a monumental difference
to cinema through the sheer uniqueness of their treatment
of subjects, stated the channel.
