MUMBAI:
Neo Sports Broadcast, the broadcasting subsidiary of Harish
Thawani's Nimbus Communications, is re-branding its two channels
- Neo Sports and Neo Sports Plus - as Neo Cricket and Neo
Sports respectively, effective tomorrow.
Neo
Cricket will be wholly dedicated to cricket events, while
Neo Sports will showcase all sports, including cricket, football,
tennis, golf, motorsport, badminton and beach volleyball,
among others.
Thawani
said, I believe we are making a game changing move in
sports broadcasting and have begun to redefine the way sports
in general and cricket in particular will be consumed with
our thrust towards Cricketainment.
Neo
Cricket has the exclusive broadcast rights for all international
and domestic cricket played in India.
It
also has exclusive broadcast rights for international cricket
played in Bangladesh and Kenya as well as BCCIs offshore
cricket series.
This
year, Neo Cricket will broadcast a minimum of six International
cricket series, including four featuring India, which will
add up to nearly 200 days of live cricket, a company release
states.
Additionally,
Neo Cricket will air as many as 10 'cricketainment' shows,
four of which are daily shows such as Dial C for Cricket,
Sportszone and Encounter.
Neo
Sports creative director and programming head Mautik Tolia
said, Over the past few months we conducted intensive
consumer research which led us to conclude that the viewer
is now ready to consume cricket in a whole new way, going
beyond just live cricket into the realm of what we call cricketainment
a blend of cricket and entertainment. That is exactly
what Neo Cricket will deliver.
Neo
Sports will also carry live coverage of cricket in Hindi and
other regional languages.
