MUMBAI: After experimenting and tasting different formats of comedy, Sab TV has now geared up for yet another stand-up comedy act called Comedy Ka King Kaun.

The daily show will hit the screens on 14 April at 8:30 pm.

The channel expects the show to deliver ratings. Star Ones's The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is popular in this programming genre.

"Stand-up comedy as an emerging format has become a habit of today's viewers and riding on which we have got this show which will judge the best one among the equals," said Sab business head Anooj Kapoor.

Sab already has a slew of comedy shows like Comedy ka Tadka, Comedy Club and Office Office running on the channel.

"The other comedy shows on the channel like America's Funny Videos, Office Office and Comedy Club have delivered good in numbers and that compelled us to come up with this show," added Kapoor.

Comedy Ka King Kaun will see 12 stand-up comedians competing with each other for the coveted title.

Hosted by Sampada Vaze, Comedy Ka King Kaun consists of three segments - a "Stand-up comedy round," a "Jugal Bandi round" and a "Gag round."

The "Stand-up comedy round" will have each participant perform alone. In the "Jugal Bandi round" the judges will select two random participants, who get together to perform on a topic given by the judges. Finally, in the "Gag round," each team will put up one gag with the help of a pool of actors.

The competition will be judged by Jaspal Bhatti and Divya Dutta.

"The three rounds will give each one a chance to perform uniformly and test on their presence of mind and ability to tickle your funny bone," added Kapoor.

Every Thursday, one of these 12 contestants will be eliminated until the last one is crowned Comedy King who will walk away with the prize money of Rs 1 million.

The show has been produced by Contiloe Films and will run on for 13 weeks.
