Autodesk to showcase VFX, animation solutions at Nab

MUMBAI: Autodesk is ready to showcase its latest visual effects, finishing, colour grading, and animation solutions at the National Association of Broadcasters (Nab) Convention in Las Vegas.

The convention, which will host more than 1,600 exhibitors from around the globe, will commence from 14 April 2008 and continue till 17 April.


The products that Autodesk will display at the conference include Flame software which is used for visual effects systems, Smoke software for finishing systems, Lustre software for digital colour-grading systems, Toxik software for digital compositing and Maya software for modelling, animation and rendering.

Attendees to the Autodesk booth can also view a series of live demonstrations showcasing interoperability between Autodesk products and third-party applications.

In addition, digital artists will demonstrate their film and television work at the Autodesk booth.

The presentations include:

Brickyard VFX founder Dave Waller and VFX artist Mandy Sorenson will highlight their work with Maya and Flame for Pontiac and Volkswagen commercials.

Imarion president Alex Olegnowicz will demonstrate the Smoke and Lustre workflow used in the creation of several documentary films such as The Exodus Decoded, The Lost Tomb of Jesus and Sex Slaves.

E3 Post senior VFX artist Victor Wolansky will showcase his work on the Autodesk Flame system.

Resolution president and senior VFX supervisor Todd Iorio will present his work with Flame for a Chevrolet Motor Company’s spot titled Tailgate.

Aditionnaly, Autodesk will also host a user group event along with organising master classes for Flame and Smoke on 13 April 2008.

Both classes will include tips and tricks, and will be co-instructed by Autodesk clients. The company will also be holding Spanish and Japanese user events on 15 and 16 April.
