MUMBAI:
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Networks Asia has announced
that Ang Hui Keng, who was previously VP of finance, distribution
and operations, has been promoted to SVP of channels management
and finance.
Hui
Keng joined SPE Networks Asia 10 years ago when parent company,
Sony Pictures Entertainment, started the office in Singapore
as the regional headquarters for its television networks.
His responsibilities included regional finance, administration,
human resources management, business development, distribution,
operations, network presentations and information technology.
Not
only was Hui Keng instrumental in getting the regional operations
of the company running smoothly, he was also an integral member
of the team that successfully built up AXN to its current
status of being the regions leading English entertainment
channel brand.
SPE
Networks adds that unlike other international channels which
were already well-established elsewhere in the world, launching
AXN in Asia was an uphill task considering that AXN was a
brand-new TV network with no known credentials, coupled with
the fact that it was launched during the 1997 Asian financial
crisis.
In
spite of the challenging climate, Hui Keng and his team managed
to grow and expand AXNs footprint, and AXN Asia is now
available in more than 82 million households across 23 countries,
including 40 million on time-block basis in China.
In
addition, Hui Keng was also instrumental in growing SPE Networks
Asia from a single-channel brand to a portfolio of six channel
brands which now include AXN, Animax, AXN Beyond, Sony Entertainment
Television, as well as two on-demand movie channels PIX and
PIX Thriller.
SPE
Networks Asia GM Ricky Ow says, Hui Keng is a proven
leader and a key member of the SPE Networks Asia management
team. He spent many years leading different critical areas
that helped to drive many of our expansion plans and increase
the revenue of the networks, enabling the robust growth of
the company.
Friends
in the industry will certainly agree with me that Hui Kengs promotion is
a well-deserved one. His promotion to Senior Vice-President will also allow him
to fully use his years of experience and in-depth knowledge to guide a new set
of leaders, as the company restructures in preparation for further growth." |
