MUMBAI: International distributor Granada International has acquired the first series of the weekly Asian talk show The May Lee Show.

The 13 one-hour series is currently in production. The series aims to address Asian women’s concerns and fuel their interests on a broad range of subjects including relationships, body image, family and sex.

May Lee, who is creator and host of the show, is a Korean American and former correspondent and anchor for CNN and CNBC. She previously worked at Oprah Winfrey’s Oxygen channel where she hosted the two-hour talk show Pure Oxygen.

Featuring many A-list guests from around the region and beyond, The May Lee Show blends conversation with 'how to' demonstrations and features.

Lee says, "Our show is produced in Asia, by Asians, especially for the new woman of Asia. We intend to confront the long-standing stereotypical views of what might interest us and show Asian viewers that we aren’t afraid to talk about issues that have traditionally been left behind closed doors. The women of Asia also aren’t afraid to have fun so expect to be fully entertained."

Granada International has the pan Asian rights to the series after it premieres on Star World.

Granada International regional director James Ross says, "The May Lee Show does something that hasn’t been seen before in Asia – it caters for Asian women who juggle their careers and their family. We are sure that this series will appeal to broadcasters throughout the region."
