Eurosport to air in Japan and Australia

MUMBAI: Eurosport Asia has launched its sports events channel Eurosport and its international sports news channel, Eurosportnews on the World on Demand IPTV platform, owned and operated by The New Media Group (TNMG).

Both channels are on the platform in Australia while Eurosportnews will be available in Japan, further extending its reach in the Asia-Pacific market.

 

Eurosport is currently available in 59 countries around the world, including eight in Asia, namely Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Maldives and Fiji.

Eurosport Asia MD Arjan Hoekstra says, "Asian viewers are eager to watch a wider variety of international sports, and Eurosport is dedicated to bringing them LIVE coverage. Our alliance with TNMG will allow us to extend our unique sports offering to more audiences throughout the Asia-Pacific region".

 
Eurosport offers a range of sports to Asian viewers, showcasing more than 60 different sports. Sports events that Eurosport broadcasts include the WTA Tour and Championships, ULEB Cup, Cycling Tour of Spain and Italy, FIA World Touring Car Championships, Motocross World Championships, Athletics IAAF Super Grand Prix, FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup.

TNMG president Randy McGraw says, "With the Beijing Olympics 2008 approaching, we can see a growing demand in Asia-Pacific for a wider variety of international sports programming, and Eurosport is exactly the type of content that our user communities want."
