Filmy announces quiz show 'Bollywood Ka Boss'

MUMBAI: After launching the music-based reality show Bathroom Singer, Sahara‘s movie channel Filmy has announced a quiz format programme based on Hindi films.


Bollywood Ka Boss is a weekly prime time one hour show which will go on air in December. Actor Boman Irani will play anchor and quiz master for the show.





Bollywood Ka Boss will pitch contestants against each other for a prize money of Rs 5 million.


Though Filmy has not decided the time-slot and day when the show will air, it is expected to replace Bathroom Singer whose first season ends in December.


Filmy business head Shailesh Kapoor said, "Ever since our inception we have strived to give our viewers a good mix of programmes and movies. This show is a first of its kind on TV and entire concept of the show fits in well with the image of our channel."


The channel has thrown open the entries for selection process. People can qualify for subsequent rounds by answering nine questions on SMS to BKB and send it to 59090 between 12 September to 7 October.


The highest scorers will undergo a written test which will be conducted in multiple languages across several cities. 240 contestants will be selected for the TV rounds which will be a six month phenomenon.


"The whole idea of conducting the tests in multiple languages is to keep the selection unbiased and open to everybody," added Kapoor.


Said Synergy Adlabs chairman and MD Siddhartha Basu who is producing the show, "Bollywood Ka Boss will cater to the movie crazy country where there is such a massive fascination and knowledge about all that is filmy."
