INX appoints Umang Hutheesing as director design and style

MUMBAI: INX Media has appointed Umang Hutheesing as director design and style, for its bouquet of channels that it plans to launch in the coming quarter.

INX Media group executive director Indrani Mukerjea said, "It gives me great pleasure to welcome Umang on board. He is one of India's best known names in style, and I am sure he will add immense value to our on-air content, ground events, and more."

According to an official release, Hutheesing has been associated with design and style for over 25 years, has been a creative producer for several top international publications like Vogue, Teen Vogue, British Vogue, Paris Match and Travel and Leisure, among others.

He was also associated with the creation of India's first Fashion Week, and has been a national judge at the India International Jewellery Show hosted by Gems and Jewellery Export Promotional Council of India in 2004.

In 2002, he was national judge for Design Excellence in Jewellery at the World Gold Council's Swaranjali Awards.

He was associated as creative consultant with the award-winning Imax film on India's cultural heritage, Mystique India, which won the viewers' choice award in 2006 in Paris from among 200 Imax films produced.

In 2002-03, El Décor magazine ranked Hutheesing's work alongside that of style and design stalwarts like Salvadore Dali, Coco Chanel, Alda Fendi and Athena Wilson, amongst others.

Hutheesing has been closely associated with the National Institute of Design, for the past five years.

He said, "It is great to join a team of visionaries who are leading entertainment for the new India with a strong focus not just on brilliant content, but also on the vital elements of design and style. I am very happy to be part of a team that will redefine the way television content is created and received."
