NEW DELHI: India is in favour of strong steps to ensure that all countries have Universal Access to Cyberspace and will pursue this at the forthcoming General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) being held in Paris next week.

Human Resource Development minister Arjun Singh is leading the Indian delegation to the meet and other members include Science and Technology minister Kapil Sibal.

The General Conference meets every two years at the UNESCO Headquarters at Paris and the present session is the 34th in the series.

The main agenda of the Conference is to consider and approve the Draft Programme and Budget of UNESCO for the biennium 2008-2009 and Draft Medium Term Strategy for 2008-2013.

However in addition to this, India will pursue the issue of measures taken by Member States for the implementation of the Recommendation concerning the Promotion and Use of Multilingualism and Universal Access to Cyberspace.
