MUMBAI: Zapak Digital Entertainment and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) have come together to organise a gaming summit which will represent the online content, advertising, e-commerce and mobile content and advertising industry. The evnt will be held in Mumbai on 28 November.

The Gaming Summit will also have industry stalwarts coming from the varied fields namely, gaming, media, advertising fraternity, addressing important dynamics of the industry. Among the few who will attend the event are David Christensen from Sony Online Entertainment, USA; Desmond Lu Guanghang of Shanda Entertainment, China; Erez Naveh from Come 2 Play and Mohit Anand from Microsoft Xbox.

Speaking on the reason behind the Summit, Zapak Digital Entertainment COO Rohit Sharma said, "India is today getting recognized as a potential market for gaming. We are happy to recognize the need for a separate identity for the industry and bring together leading influential personalities on a common platform. Till date gaming has been seen from limited perspectives. Our endeavor is to create a platform that views this industry more holistically. We are confident that our association with IAMAI and Intel will enhance and highlight the importance of this Summit and add credibility to our efforts."

There will be panel discussions addressing different topics which will involve industry players from diverse fraternities. The topics will elaborate past, current and future trends and unravel range from Gaming Industry overview, the gaming industry value chain to the DNA of a typical gamer and potentials of gaming as a tool to promote brands.

Intel South Asia director of marketing John McClure said, "The gaming industry is becoming extremely important to Intel for 3 reasons. One is the fact that this community is early technology adopter and is extremely demanding in terms of processor and platform performance. They, therefore, are a great community to help drive enhancements in our products like the newly launched Core 2 Extreme QX9650 based on our path breaking 45 nm process technology, where we have custom built several capabilities specifically for gamers. The second reason gaming is important to Intel is the fact that it is starting to grow quite rapidly in India, and with the proliferation of broadband, is destined to grow even faster - so it is a good business opportunity to pursue. The third reason is it gives us the ability to reach out to the youth segment, which is an important marketing priority for Intel. The India Gaming Summit reinforces our commitment to this particular industry and has also given us the chance to collaborate with our partners and key players to deliver the best solutions to customers. We are thrilled to have partnered with Zapak who we believe are the leaders in this space."
