MUMBAI: Smart News, the online publication of the Smart Television Alliance, has launched online.

Parents concerned about the quality of children's television programming will be able to utilize this service to control what kids see on TV.

The new fortnightly parental resource is produced under the leadership of the National Education Association, which is a professional organization, National Parent Teacher Association which is a volunteer child advocacy association and the National Council of Women's Organizations (NCWO), a coalition of more than 200 organizations representing over ten million women.

In October, the Smart Television Alliance launched in response to growing concerns about the level of violent and indecent programming, all too easily accessible by children.

STA co-chair and chair of NCWO Susan Scanlan said, "Our goal is to reach millions of parents and make it easy for them to find quality children's shows that educate, entertain, and inspire."
