MUMBAI: In an attempt to strengthen its weekend prime time band, Zee TV has announced the launch of two new shows from 16 November.

Slotted at 9 pm and 9:30 pm, the two shows are Chaldi da naam gaddi and Alladin.

Speaking on the launch, Zeel (Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd) network operating officer Punit Goenka said, "This is our step towards strongly establishing our weekend band from Friday-Sunday."

While Chaldi da naan gaddi is a comedy show based on a Punjabi family, Aladdin is a series based on popular tales and has computer graphics and special effects in it.

"Aladdin is a very unique concept where for the first time we are using computer graphics and special effects in a prime time show," added Goenka.

Chaldi da naan gaddi is about a family of performers, the Kapoor family, who hail from a small town of Punjab - Bhatinda and hence the name of their caravan- 'Balle Balle Bhatinda Wale'.

Goenka added, "Chaldi da naam gaddi is an out and out entertaining comedy. The characters are so unique and so are their little quirks. The show has the capability to make one laugh and cry at the same time. The emotions of the storyline are so subtle that an instant union is established with the viewer.

The show has its various characters being played by Ravi Gossain, Suhasini Mulay and Daya Shankar Pandey, to name a few.
