Amrita TV will give away the 3rd Amrita Film Awards on 5 May.
Celebrating
the second anniversary of the Malayalam regional language
TV network, Amrita TV will give away awards to 21 categories.
Classmates, directed by Lal Jose, was awarded the best
film while Rohan Andrews was adjudged the best director for
his film Notebook.
Popular
Malayalam actor Mohanlal bagged the best actor for Keerthichakra
/ Vadakkumnathan and Navya Nai was declared the best actress
for her role in Saira.
Eminent film maker KS Sethumadhavan will be honoured with the
Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding performance to
Malayalam cinema.
The
hit film Classmates bagged six Awards which included
best feature film, best supporting actress (Radhika), best
screenplay (James Albert), best music director (Alex Paul),
best editor (Renjan Abraham) and best costume designer (S.B.Satheesh).
For the first time, the channel has instituted the best other
language film award which went to the Tamil film Veyil.
A special achievement Award will be presented to Dr. Biju
(director) BN Radhakrishnan (producer) of Saira, which
has been selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival
this year.
On
the occasion, Amrita TV has brought out a publication, "Celebrating
Cinema: Amrita Film Awards -- A Handbook", which carries
citations of all award winners with details of nominations
in every category.
