| MUMBAI:
Indian Idol 3's first two episodes received a TVR of 3.6 and 3.67 (C&S
4+, All India) and attracting over 27 million viewers over on 4 and 5 May combined,
according to Tam data. However,
Indian Idol 3 may face competition in the coming weeks from shows like
The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3 which kicks off on Star One on 18
May. Commenting on this SET marketing head Aseem Kapoor said, "We might face
competition in future but our show has opened with the reach of 12.7 percent and
11.1 percent in first two episodes respectively. Indian Idol 3 featured
among the top 30 programmes in that week, so we will keep reminding our viewers
to come back and watch Indian Idol 3." The
build up to show was triggered by a promotional campaign conducted in two phases,
the first phase was before the launch and the second phase was for the launch
of the first two episodes. It included outdoor activities like hoardings and road
shows along with a number of branded buses running across Mumbai. As
the episodes proceed, the promotional activities will become aggressive. SET marketing
head Aseem Kapoor said, " The third phase of promotions will come during
the theater round, as of now we are trying our best to engage our viewers and
attract more viewers by entertaining and involving them with good content."
The
episode featuring Kolkata auditions will air on 18 May. Indian Idol 3 will
take the viewers to the Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar and London auditions to witness
the enthusiasm of aspirants as they live that one dream of winning the coveted
title and becoming Bharat Ki Shaan. The
episode will also showcase the London auditions. It is for the first time that
Indian Idol has traveled to London. The two judges from India, Annu Malek and
Alisha Chinai, sat through the auditions and selected the contestants. Earlier
there was a precasting done by the London-based music director and composer Biddu. The
episode of 19 May will showcase 123 contestants arriving in Mumbai to compete
in the theater round at NCPA. As a special surprise, Indian Idol has organized
a cruise party off the Gateway of India, where the contestants were treated to
Mumbai style pani puri and they had a blast dancing in the middle of the sea.
The
coming weeks will see the top 28 participants, selected by the panel of judges,
competing for their place in the next round of Indian Idol 3. The drama
unfolds as the viewers vote for their favourite, who will eventually become the
nation's third Indian Idol. |
