Mumbai: Zone Reality, which focusses on real life programming, has launched new shows.

The new line of reality shows cuts across many genres including rescue and survival, crime and human interest. The four new shows launched are Treasure Island: Couples at War, Weirdest Phobias, Saving Life and Limb and Prison Week.

Zonemedia marketing director Flecka Picardo says that improvisation of subject matter is the unique characteristic of the channel. "We are constantly looking at diverse subjects so that we can strengthen our programming range. We ensure that the treatment in terms of programming with respect to all our shows is such that the real life element is overriding in each show.”

Treasure Island airs till 18 May at 6:55 pm. This sees couples pitted against other couples in a elimination based game show on a remote uninhabited island. Eight abandoned couples embark on a 10-week mission to uncover a crashed plane's missing cargo, the missing crew and the secret of Treasure Island.

The couples must survive inhospitable conditions, team challenges, chief challenges, elimination challenges and each other, as they work to piece together the treasure map. Surviving each other proves more of a challenge than the dangers of any remote island.

Weirdest Phobias airs on 19 May at 8:10 pm. follows three people as they battle to overcome their absurd irrational fears of perfectly harmless objects. Most people are afraid of something. Often phobias are sparked by a traumatic experience but in some cases are simply in-built fears.

The show tells the story of Sue’s phobia of knees. She doesn’t’ touch her own knees, hates the sight of them and repulses at the sound of the words knee cap. The show follows Sue as she invites a therapist into her home to help her overcome her fear and allow her to live a life not so knee-cap focussed.

Prison Week meanwhile profiles three women awaiting execution, each convicted of committing murder. This programme retells their stories and examines the contradiction between the feminine, maternal and in most cases, loving aspects of womanhood, with the horrible, rage-filled murders they committed. The show airs from 28 May – 1 June at 9:55 pm.
