MUMBAI: The entire country is geared up and enthused for
the biggest international Cricketing event in the World
The ICC World Cup 2007 which kicks off in less than a week's
time. TV18 Network, with its four news channels. CNN-IBN,
IBN 7, CNBC-TV 18 and CNBC-Awaaz, has planned programming
initiatives for the Indian Cricket Fan.
Positioned as the official network of the Indian Cricket
Fan, TV18 will celebrate the sprit of the game with its Cheer
for India initiative on one hand & the gamut of regular
analysis and update driven shows from the Caribbean with a
host of known cricket faces including Krish Srikkanth and
Yashpal Sharma.
The Cheer for India initiative looks to salute the spirit and
passion with which the bat and ball game is associated in India.
TV18 Network has organised a pan-India campaign involving specially
designed floats that will visit predetermined locations in various
cities in a bid to garner support for the Indian team. The Cheer
for India float activity covers cities including Chandigarh,
Chennai, Delhi. The activity finally culminates in Mumbai.
These floats will carry with them a cricket bat replica on
which the die-hard fans, including celebrities, will be encouraged
to sign their wishes for team India. While the Cheer for India
caravans are parked at different venues, fans can share their
opinions and wishes with the masses which will be aired across
the TV18 network channels during various time bands through
the day.
The TV18 Network, in collaboration with LG, will also showcase
the actual 2007 ICC World Cup trophy in Delhi and Kolkata
on 7 and 8 March respectively. IBN 7 will be airing the event
tonight at 8 pm along with the half an hour show on CNN-IBN
later that same evening. There would also be two half hour
shows from Kolkata on 8 March 2007.
The Cheer for India campaign grand finale will take place
in Mumbai after all caravans across the country come together
on March 13th. Here a musical concert and talk show featuring
cricketers such as Krish Srikkanth and Yashpal Sharma and
other celebrities will be held to keep the enthusiasm alive
and the spirit of 'Cheer for India' kicking. The finale will
be showcased in a one-hour special 'Cheer for India
the Great Indian Bat Show ', on 16 March on all the four TV18
channels.
CNN-IBN and IBN 7 editor-in-chief Rajdeep Sardesai says,
"Whether it's our love for the game or national spirit
or both, we at CNN-IBN have gone through great lengths to
put together an assembly of innovative, analytical, fun and
informative programming for our viewers on the occasion of
the World Cup."
The broadcaster says that the Cheer for India campaign has
been conceptualised, keeping in mind not only the Indian cricket
team but also cricket crazy fans all across the country. The
gamut of programming surrounding this campaign will provide
an opportunity to the fans to come together to celebrate the
spirit of cricket.
