MUMBAI: The entire country is geared up and enthused for the biggest international Cricketing event in the World – The ICC World Cup 2007 which kicks off in less than a week's time. TV18 Network, with its four news channels. CNN-IBN, IBN 7, CNBC-TV 18 and CNBC-Awaaz, has planned programming initiatives for the Indian Cricket Fan.

Positioned as the official network of the Indian Cricket Fan, TV18 will celebrate the sprit of the game with its Cheer for India initiative on one hand & the gamut of regular analysis and update driven shows from the Caribbean with a host of known cricket faces including Krish Srikkanth and Yashpal Sharma.

The Cheer for India initiative looks to salute the spirit and passion with which the bat and ball game is associated in India. TV18 Network has organised a pan-India campaign involving specially designed floats that will visit predetermined locations in various cities in a bid to garner support for the Indian team. The Cheer for India float activity covers cities including Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi. The activity finally culminates in Mumbai.

These floats will carry with them a cricket bat replica on which the die-hard fans, including celebrities, will be encouraged to sign their wishes for team India. While the Cheer for India caravans are parked at different venues, fans can share their opinions and wishes with the masses which will be aired across the TV18 network channels during various time bands through the day.

The TV18 Network, in collaboration with LG, will also showcase the actual 2007 ICC World Cup trophy in Delhi and Kolkata on 7 and 8 March respectively. IBN 7 will be airing the event tonight at 8 pm along with the half an hour show on CNN-IBN later that same evening. There would also be two half hour shows from Kolkata on 8 March 2007.

The Cheer for India campaign grand finale will take place in Mumbai after all caravans across the country come together on March 13th. Here a musical concert and talk show featuring cricketers such as Krish Srikkanth and Yashpal Sharma and other celebrities will be held to keep the enthusiasm alive and the spirit of 'Cheer for India' kicking. The finale will be showcased in a one-hour special 'Cheer for India – the Great Indian Bat Show ', on 16 March on all the four TV18 channels.

CNN-IBN and IBN 7 editor-in-chief Rajdeep Sardesai says, "Whether it's our love for the game or national spirit or both, we at CNN-IBN have gone through great lengths to put together an assembly of innovative, analytical, fun and informative programming for our viewers on the occasion of the World Cup."

The broadcaster says that the Cheer for India campaign has been conceptualised, keeping in mind not only the Indian cricket team but also cricket crazy fans all across the country. The gamut of programming surrounding this campaign will provide an opportunity to the fans to come together to celebrate the spirit of cricket.
