MUMBAI: This month The History Channel (THC) brings viewers close to Egypt.

Viewers will travel back in time into an era of grandeur, deception and bloodshed and witness the rise and fall of one of the earliest empires in the world - Egypt! The show airs every Sunday at 10 pm.

2500 years before the reign of Julius Caesar-a span of time longer than that which separates us from him-the ancient Egyptians were deftly harnessing the power of engineering on an unprecedented scale. Their ingenuity and manpower was already yielding the world's first stone superstructures-one of which would stand as the world's tallest building until the 19th century. The History channel recreates these engineering marvels with the help of advanced computer generated imaging in Egypt: Engineering an Empire.

This is part of the Egypt special on The History Channel. The month of March is dedicated to the Egyptian empire as The History Channel features a two-hour episode 'Egypt: Engineering an Empire' on 18 March 2007. Another episode is called Digging for the Truth: Cleopatra & Nefertiti om 25 March 2007.

THC senior VP- programming Joy Bhattacharjya says, "The History Channel has consistently offered its viewers factual programming that is both entertaining and engaging. Full of drama and theatrics, the series unfolds like a movie and we are confident that our viewers will receive it with great enthusiasm."

Featuring realistic dramatic re-enactments along with exciting narratives, expert commentary from historians and original illustrations from the era, the Egypt special allows viewers a peek into the riveting lives of the first men and women who commanded the vast resources and power of ancient Egypt.
