NEW DELHI: Permission to foreigners to shoot films in India
would ideally not take longer than three weeks except for
shooting in sensitive areas or on sensitive subjects.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi
said in a reply in the Lok Sabha that the procedure for shooting
of films by foreigners in India had been simplified and decisions
would be taken by the I and B Ministry in consultation with
the Home Ministry.
It may taken a little longer if the film requires shooting in
sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir, North-Eastern India or
border areas of the country, in which case the application will
be considered for specific approval in consultation with the
Home Ministry.
Similarly, the Home Ministry would have to be consulted if the
issues dealt in the feature film relate to communal subjects,
human rights, tribal, nuclear and defence-related issues, or
relating to any other issue considered provocative or sensitive
from the economic, social, or political angle.
In another reply, the Minister said the Government of Pakistan
had not lifted the ban on Indian films. |
