Film & TV Producers Guild parleys with state on VAT, stamp duty

MUMBAI: The Film and Television Producers Guild of India today expressed the hope that Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayantrao Patil will give a positive response to its proposals with regard to VAT and stamp duty.

In a press release, the Guild said the minister had given patient hearing to its senior members who had been called in response to the series of meetings initiated by the Guild with concerned officials of the government to resolve VAT & Stamp Duty matters.

Over the past three months or so, the Guild has been in constant parleys with top ministers/bureaucrats such as Patil, state finance secretary, sales tax officials etc. to discuss the crucial issues of VAT and Stamp Duty which have severe repercussions on the entertainment industry.

In this connection, a delegation from the Guild comprising luminaries from the entertainment industry submitted representations to the state finance minister enlisting proposals, queries and ambiguities pertaining to VAT and Stamp Duty.
