MUMBAI:
PDM-Entertainment a division of Percept launched its entertainment
property - India Music Week (IMW) at the London
Calling festival held in Earls Court, London.
London
Calling features the international music industry, major players
and dealmakers from over 40 countries.
PDM
India COO Devraj Sanyal says, Music has always captured
the imagination of Indians. Indian Music cuts across languages,
caste and religion to reach out to millions of listeners across
the world. We are proud to launch this concept of an India
Music Week with the support of IMI. The Indian music industry
is quite unique compared to other countries, as it is virtually
dependent on new Hindi films for the lions share (40
per cent) of its revenues.
There
has been a burning need for a platform that allows global
players to interact with the Indian Music Industry at one
level and allows interaction at a trade and business level
within the industry in India at another level. IMW is poised
to fulfill this gap, starting this year and I am sure we will
grow from strength to strength in the years to come.
The
India Music Week is slated for an official launch in September
in Mumbai. India Music Week will look at unifying the various
talents in the music industry and create a body that keeps
a close eye on the local music industry and the changing international
trends. The India Music Week is an all encompassing forum
that will address the major issues confronting the industry
- the changes taking place in the consumption patterns the
new formats that will drive a new business model and brand
associations. Each of these issues will be addressed in an
atmosphere of concerts, great performances by music maestros
and talks by veterans in the music business. It also aims
to recognize and support budding talent in the industry.
PDM-Entertainment
COO Aman Anand says, India Music Week will aim to set
a national benchmark in the Music Industry and create a unique
platform for people in the industry to meet and network with
each other, whilst providing opportunity for new talent to
learn and interact with senior industry members. It was only
apt that we announce this concept at a festival like London
Calling, as this is the place where labels,
managers,
distributors, forward-thinking brands, service providers and
technologies are determining the shape of the new music economy,
featuring around 400 companies from more than 40 countries
and thousands of delegates.
London
Calling, is a new generation of international music business
event, the biggest in the UK, with a major exhibition, a future
thinking, world-class speaker line-up, expert one-to-one business
advice, a jam-packed line-up of new ideas, new music and new
technologies plus showcases, gigs, parties and networking
events.
The
India Music Week, as the name suggests, will be a week long
festival with conferences, networking sessions, mentor sessions,
discussions, workshops, concerts, international speakers and
more. The India Music Week will also feature industry participation
through IMI, Music Labels, Trade, Licensees, Composers, Musicians/Performing
Artists, Studio Engineers/Owners/Recordists, Radio
Networks/Jockeys/Programmers/Marketing/Copyrights, Equipment
