DELHI : Discovery Travel & Living has unveiled a new and
unconventional series titled Not Your Average Travel Guide
that is slated to kick off on 30 June at 10 pm.
Not
a typical sightseeing experience, Not Your Average Travel
Guide takes viewers through some of the most exciting and
popular cities of the world including Amsterdam, Dublin, London
and Rome and offers both unique travel tips as well as insights
into diverse lifestyles. It arms viewers with the most engaging
itineraries including the best ways to travel, local munchies,
must-dos and must-visits and best times to visit.
From
capturing Queen's Day celebrations in Amsterdam to St. Patrick's
Day celebrations in Dublin, from presenting Irish dancing
to Rome's Gladiator fighting, from shopping for traditional
items like Dutch clogs to visiting homes of famous personalities
like Jimi Hendrix, the series promises to be packed with entertaining
elements that today's young Indian traveller seeks. With food
being one of the most popular subjects across the world; the
series stops at the cities' must-visit eateries, including
The Pancake Bakery in Amsterdam and Veeraswamy, the oldest
Indian restaurant in London, states an official release.
Discovery
Networks India EVP and MD Deepak Shourie said, "India
is witnessing an unprecedented growth in global travel to
both traditional holiday destinations and more exotic locations.
Not Your Average Travel Guide has been launched in response
to this overwhelming trend and the incessant demand and preference
of our viewers to watch and visit distinctive sights and locations."
With
the first episode focused on Amsterdam, Ambassador of Netherlands
in India his excellency Eric Niehe said, "As a born and
bred 'Amsterdammer' it is a privilege for me to recommend
this beautiful historical city to the Indian public as a tourist
destination. I am sure that all visitors from India will come
to join me in saying 'I am-Sterdam'."
While
covering some of the more conventional sights like windmills
and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the series also covers uncanny
venues like the Anne Frank House, a hiding place where Holocaust
victim Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during World War
II. The series also highlights the variety of ways to travel
through Amsterdam including metro, cab, foot, boat and bike.
