MUMBAI:
After
pulling out from cricket with the end of the ICC World Cup,
Max is starting its journey as a pure movie channel with blockbuster
titles.
Armed
with recent blockbuster acquisitions, the channel will launch
Saal ke sabse bade blockbuster later this month. This
replaces the 8 pm Amitabh Bachchan festival slot which was
branded as Ab Tak Bachchan.
Sony
recently bought telecast rights for Lage Raho Munnabhai
, Salaam-E-Ishq, Namaste London, Provoked
(Hindi) and Eklavya - The Royal Guard.
The
line up of Saal ke sabse blockbuster would also include
the screening of last year's major acquisitions like
Yashraj's Dhoom II and Fanaa and Karan Johar's
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
Says
Max business head Sneha Rajani, "We recently acquired
some big films and are going to screen them on our channel."
The channel is also carrying out other initiatives. Starting
11 June, Do aur do paanch film festival will screen
movies that feature two stars on weekdays at 4 pm. "
Sundays followed by prime time or evening bands deliver the
highest ratings. We have recently started delivering some
very good numbers in the afternoon" says Rajani.
