Vh1 to air Live Earth Concert for 24 Hrs

MUMBAI: Vh1 will telecast Live Earth concert to be held in various cities across seven continents for 24 hours continuously on 7 July.

The event aims to use the global reach of music by bringing together more than 100 music artists namely Madonna, Sir Elton John, Roger Waters, The Police, Black Eyed Peas, Duran Duran, James Blunt, Snoop Dogg, Linkin Park, Rihanna, Sasha, Wolfmother, amongst many others in a bid to start a global movement to solve the climate crisis.

In an initiative to create awareness for environment, Vh1 will air the concert live from different cities across seven continents from 2:30pm 7 July till 2:30 pm on 8 July.

Speaking on this MTVN digital and Vh1 GM Keertan Adyanthaya said, "Vh1 seeks to inspire its audience to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives and spur action by corporates and government to turn the tide on global warming. We have a commitment to bring the best in global music programming to India and is honored to be supporting the Live Earth concert series."

These concerts will be held at New York, Sydney, Rio De Jeneiro, Johannesburg, London, Tokyo, Shanghai ,Hamburg and many other cities.

Live Earth is a project of the SOS campaign which is using various platforms like films, television, radio, Internet, books, wireless and others to move people to combat the climate crisis. The mission of the SOS campaign is to empower individuals to change their consumer behaviors and motivate corporations and political leaders to enact decisive measures to combat the climate crisis.

Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance and Partner of Live Earth.
