Star acquires three Hindi movies

MUMBAI: Star India has recently acquired telecast rights for three Hindi movies - Bhagam Bhaag, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Babul and English movies.

The Hindi movies will first be aired on Star Plus before being screened on the movie channel Star Gold.

Star has also recently acquired international titles including Chronicles of Narnia, Fantastic Four, Penguins - Ek Prem Kahani (A Documentary). These will be dubbed in Hindi and premiered on Star Gold.

Says Star marketing and communication head Prem Kamath, "We have acquired these Hindi movies and they will be screened shortly."

For Star Gold, events is an important piece of the strategy. Besides Sabse Favourite Kaun and Star Gold Comedy Honours, more events are in the pipeline this year.

"As a Hindi movie channel events are our strength. We will continue Comedy Honours next year as well just the way we did Sabse Favourite Kaun. We are also contemplating few other similar events," adds Kamath.

Sabse Favourite Kaun which is an award for popularity, has entered its fifth year and the channel is planning to make it bigger this year.

"Krrish on its second airing gave us ratings of 3.37 in HSM.The first airing on Star Plus delivered 5.45 TVR which speaks for our viewer's loyalty," says Kamath.

Star Gold ran contests before and during the screening of the movie which the channel claims received a response of around 35,000 entries. Star distributed merchandise and gave away ten computers as prizes.
