The History Channel Germany has reached an agreement with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group
to offer programs from The History Channel and The Biography Channel on www.maxdome.de,
a German language broadband video-on-demand service. The
History Channel and BIO programs will be available in German and in English on
maxdome. A wide range of series and specials are currently available on maxdome
from The History Channel, including Modern Marvels, Deep Sea Detectives, Investigating
History, and The Samurai. BIO programs which will be added in the coming
months, include Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Inked and Biography
episodes on celebrities, including Anna Nicole Smith, Mick Jagger and Steffi Graf.
According
to GmbH head of SevenSenses Dr. Dirk Kleine who also oversees the VoD business
of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, "With the top quality productions from The History
Channel and The Biography Channel, we are expanding the menu of maxdome options
for the first time with an appealing genre of documentaries. As the leading German
VoD portal, we will continue to expand this programming for our users."
Viewers
can access maxdome via computer or on television with an in-home
set-top box. Programs on maxdome are offered through either
an all-inclusive Premium Package which provides unlimited
access to programs for €19.99/month, or through a download-to-rent
service priced at €1.99 for 24 hours, says an official
release.
The
History Channel Germany head Dr. Andreas Weinek said, "VoD
has become an increasingly significant distribution platform
for us and through this agreement with maxdome we have taken
a major step towards our goal of delivering our content to
viewers throughout Germany."
