MUMBAI:
Star India is taking guard against Nimbus after the termination
of its distribution contract. The Rupert Murdoch company has
filed a caveat in the Bombay High Court so that it be heard
and no ex parte decision be passed if Nimbus approached the
court.
A
Star spokesperson declined to comment on the issue but sources
confirmed that a caveat had been filed.
Meanwhile,
Nimbus has sent a termination letter to Star and filed a case
at an international arbitration court in Singapore, seeking
compensation.
The
relationship between the two companies had gone sour after
the government made it mandatory for private broadcasters
to share feed with the pubcaster. Star had found the minimum
guarantee amount of around Rs 8 billion on the higher side
under the conditions and the new management had reviewed the
contract.
