MUMBAI:
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has announced a home entertainment
deal for Prehistoric Park in China, struck with CAV
Warner Entertainment.
This
is a joint venture between Warner Home Video and China Audio & Video Publishing
House. FME
programming will be released via a Hollywood studios distribution arm. Prehistoric
Park will take advantage of CAV Warners extensive distribution channels
to gain penetration across China. Prehistoric
Park is
fronted by natural historian Nigel Marven and embraces the latest CGI technology
as he travels back in time to rescue some of the most amazing animals who ever
roamed the earth. Prehistoric
Park continues to enjoy success across Asia, with home entertainment deals
already inked with SPO in Japan; Kenny and Co in Korea; Times International in
Taiwan; Archer Entertainment in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia; as well as
United Home Entertainment in Thailand. These
agreements form part of the immense string of deals for the iconic series, which
includes 52 broadcasters worldwide; DVD licenses in more than 30 territories along
with a range of licensing deals covering books to boardgames, puzzles to greeting
cards! CAV
Warner Home Entertainment MD Tony Vaughan says, Our partnership with Fremantle
has enabled us to innovate with video marketing and release models that are appropriate
to the Chinese market. This is the first time that an international television
series with national exposure on CCTV has had separate episodes released individually
on video, each with a one week window after broadcast - and way ahead of the pirates.
"High
visibility retail displays and communications help build awareness for the overall
property whilst it is still on air. It is a win-win all round for legitimate market
development. Impossible
Pictures creative director Jasper James said, We built Prehistoric Park
to have universal appeal and so were delighted to see it snatching up audiences
in Asia and all over the world. It's fantastic to have a Hollywood heavyweight
on board to launch the DVD. Now audiences in China have the chance to be transported
to Prehistoric Park at their leisure and to have their imaginations captured all
over again. FME
CEO David Ellender says, To be recognised as a valued home entertainment
business partner in Asia is a compliment to Amrita and her team, as it is to our
fine catalogue of programming across all genres, and our concerted efforts across
the Asian region to continue building our presence and strength. |
